京都在住、画家。長年培った音楽を画作の基礎に現場で描くことを主眼とす。青木繁記念大賞展優秀賞、北京中央美術学院個展 (国際交流基金助成)、ニューヨーク、ケルン、銀座でも個展、オーストリア留学。英国アートレジデンス招聘。アデレード(豪)、アビニヨン(仏)で全長100mの東北震災画展示。舞踊家ピナ・バウシュに招かれブッパタール(独)で1ヵ月リハーサルを描く。チベット、ペルー他各地制作。画集4冊刊。
A resident of Kyoto. Primarily interested in painting “on the spot,” based on designs from his long-cultivated musical sense. Recipient of the Aoki Shigeru Memorial Award for Excellence. Individual exhibitions at the Beijing Central Academy of Art (with a grant from the Japan Foundation) and in New York, Cologne (Köln), and the Ginza. Kei studied abroad in Australia. Invited to Artist-in-Residence in the United Kingdom. Exhibited his 100-meter painted scroll of the Tōhoku (Northeast Japan) Disasters, in full, in Adelaide (Australia) and Avingnon (France). Invited by the professional dancer Pina Bausch to spend a month in Wuppertal (Germany) drawing her rehearsals. Creative work in Tibet, Peru, and elsewhere. Published four collections of work.

関西方面で活躍している新進画家の渡辺敬介さん（京都市上京区）がこのほど北京で、国際交流基金の助成を得て「ワークショップ展示 渡辺敬介展」という一風変わった美術交流を行った。 中国・中央美術学院の画廊に作品を展示する一方、日本で絵画展を開いたこともある画家、呉長江・同学院助教授と二人で京劇俳優をモデルに写生しようという試み。渡辺さんは光や動きを大切にして文楽や舞妓さんを描いてきたが、手法の異なる中国画家が同じ対象をどう描くか、その対照が注目された。 会場になったのは、清朝の乾隆帝の書院内の院子（中庭）。伝統的な建物に囲まれた静かなたたずまいは京劇俳優の写生にはピッタリの環境で、二人は京劇の様々なポーズを求めながら写生し、興味深そうに見ていた。 呉助教授は「渡辺さんとは訪日以来の親友だが、彼の手法には興味を持っていた。肖像画や裸婦像といった動きの少ない作品が多い中国では、非常に印象深い作品です」と"競作"を楽しんでいた。 一方、同美術学院で開かれた展覧会も中国の著名画家が多数訪れるなど盛況で、中国側からは「旧ソ連のリアリズムの影響を受けた中国の静的な写生とは全く異なる手法。非常に新鮮で、啓発されるところが多い」と高い評価を受けていた。（北京・高井潔司）

Keisuke Watanabe (Kyoto, Japan), a painter who is active in the Kansai area, recently conducted an unusual art exchange called "Workshop Exhibition Keisuke Watanabe Exhibition" in Beijing with the support of the Japan Foundation. While trying to display the work in the gallery of the Central Academy of Fine Arts in China, he has also held a painting exhibition in Japan. These events were initiated with an associate professor at the Academy of Wu Changjiang. In the projects, Kei went to find a model for a Peking Opera actor. Mr. Watanabe has been drawing Bunraku and Maiko, valuing light and movement, but he paid attention to the contrast of how Chinese painters with different methods draw the same object. The venue was the courtyard of Qianlong Emperor's Shoin in the Qing dynasty. Surrounded by traditional buildings, the quiet appearance is perfect for sketching the actors of the Peking Opera, and Mr. Watanabe was intrigued by various poses of the Chinese tradition. Associate professor Kure said, "I have been a close friend of Mr. Watanabe since visiting Japan, but I was interested in his method. It is a very impressive work in China where there are many works with few movements such as portraits and nudes," he said. The exhibition held at the Academy of Fine Arts was very successful, with many famous Chinese painters visiting, saying from the Chinese side that "a technique completely different from the static sketch of China, which was influenced by the realism of the former Soviet Union. There are many places that are fresh and enlightening. " (Keiji Takai, Beijing)
